How many times a day do you hear the words, “I am worried“, more often then I am relaxed and enjoying my day!

The modern day mantras are ‘worried’ and ‘stressed’. Both words trigger a physiological response in the body and brain that make the individual feel weak and helpless. The word ‘worry’ usually comes to surface when one is faced with an “unknown” outcome or a possible result that may be negative or painful.

In reality, reflect back and notice that as a general rule, more then 95% of the self induced imaginative worries of the mind were futile and do not manifest into concrete events. The practice of worrying, creates a self destructive vicious cycle, where one thought fuels the other, the present is obliterated, and the mind becomes a slave to the ‘WORRY MASTER’.

Question: How many times have you run around in a circle like an ant, worrying about this and that, to the point now, the word “worry” is now part of your spoken vocabulary?

Solution:  Conciously STOP every time the word WORRY comes out of the mouth, reflect on what is being created, bring your awareness to the present by first smiling at the self and ‘Re-Minding’ the ‘WORRY MASTER’ that this story is fabricated, a bad dream that you refuse to follow or be controlled by.

You are not a slave to your worries.

 What are you doing right now? We can bet most of you are sitting. Not a bad thing…unless we do a lot of it. And in this day and age we tend to do an awful lot of it. Most of us sit in cars, sit at computers, and sit on couches. We sit to eat and we sit to work. Most of us also sit for entertainment – anyone been to the movies or played video games? All this excessive  sitting starts to change our postures. Our shoulders slump, our head tilts forward and down, and our hips change their tilt. This shuts down our diaphragm, slows our digestion, and negatively effects our circulation. Our deep postural muscles go on giant prolonged vacation and our peripheral muscles take over.

Poor posture is the leading cause of everything from TMJ, migraine headaches, degenerative joints, disc herniations, arthritis, to back, neck, and knee pain. The good news is: your posture can easily be fixed and your pain all gone.

 It is important to remember that the true source of chronic muscle and joint pain is rarely the site of the pain. When dealing with a symptom we often forget that the foot bones connected to the ankle bone and thus the body works as a unit. And whenever dealing with a joint issue we must remember that bones don’t move bones – muscles move bones. Our muscles work on a principle commonly referred to as “use it or lose it.” This means that if we do not use our muscles – and use them correctly the way they were designed – then they lose the ability to work and work correctly.

The problem is most people head to the gym or the running trail and start moving but they take their poor posture with them. This means their deep postural muscles are still on vacation and their peripheral muscles are still doing most of the work (these overworked muscles cause most muscle pain).

Surgery, drugs, and ergonomic redesign do not address the cause of chronic muscle pain; instead they all treat the symptom. This may give you a temporary reduction in pain but because the cause was never addressed the same symptom or a related symptom is sure to show up soon.
