Daily Physical Activity (DPA)

Our wellness workshops draw from techniques of fitness, Functional Anatomy, Pilates, Kinesiology, Chiropractic, Biomechanics, and Hatha Yoga.  We use safe, sound fitness approaches and fitness exercises that emphasize integrity of the “core” for stabilization. Posture exercises are incorporated to correct posture, to improve posture, body alignment, and spinal flexibility.   We also utilize rhythmic breathing and sound therapy exercises embracing quietness for a healthier functioning body and mind.

Parent Teacher Conference (PTC)

Many families are dealing with issues of increased stress, computer related strains and injuries, ADD, and a general lack of regular physical activity. Our wellness and yoga workshops confront these conditions head-on. During our parent teacher conference (PTC) or parent education wellness workshops we guide and develop specific 'kids' exercise routines which help with reducing stress, maintaining a healthy body and mind.

What is Good Posture?

Correct posture, or good posture,  is a simple but very important way to keep the many intricate structures in the back and spine healthy, improving body alignment.  It is much more than cosmetic.  Good posture and posture exercises are critical to reducing incidences, and levels of back pain and neck pain.  Regular physical activity , and exercises for children, are especially  important for  kids  who spend many hours throughout the day sitting in school.

 

Problems Caused by Lack of Exercise Fitness and Bad Posture

Not maintaining good posture can add strain to muscles and put stress on the spine causing bad body alignment. Over time the stress of bad posture can change the anatomical characteristics of the spine, leading to the possibility of constricted blood vessels and nerves, as well as problems with muscles, discs, and joints.  All of these can be major contributors to back and neck pain, as well as headaches, fatigue, and possibly even concerns with major organs and breathing.  Our Shikamoo Wellness workshops are designed with specific yoga exercises, yoga postures and fitness exercises using Masai Stick Technology and Hatha Yoga.
